How to install Android Lollipop 5.0 on your LG G3

YousefAndroid, Announcement, Technical, Technology 2 Comments

Android lollipop

After I purchased my LG G3 in a little while, LG started rolling out the Andriod Lollipop 5.0 update, tried effortlessly but couldn’t get to update it OTA as it says “You have the latest version installed”.

So I searched around a little, and apparently you can get the update via downloading PC Suite and upgrading through there.

5.0 update

NB: With me it only worked on windows 8 or older (Will not work on windows 8.1 and crashed 2 of my PCs – something to do with the drivers installation), also you cannot update using Macbooks and you will loose USB connectivity to your LG G3 from your Mac after the 5.0 update.

All you have to do is :

1. Read the Note above!

2. Backup your phone contents to your memory card or PC (Not mandetory but highly recommended).

3. Download the LG Mobile Support tool and the LG drivers from the LG website (Link here).

LG G3 Download

4. Update your phone through the LG Mobile Support Tool.

5. Follow through the update and update playstore and all the other apps that require updates through the Google play store.

#KuwaitMile – Kuwait’s Local Official Drag Racing Scene

YousefCadillac, Cars, Chevrolet, Drag, Events, Kuwait, MotorSports, Photography, Porsche Leave a Comment

#KuwaitMile took place last weekend, both Friday and Saturday, with over 300 racers participating in different categories, including stock and modified vehicles, both 6 and 8 cylinders.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2645,2640,2647,2649″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”]

I was only able to attend the race on Friday, overall I would say it was very well organised, the Kuwaiti crowd isn’t easy to control or satisfy in every way, they wouldn’t take enough safety precautions, and would complain about safety and at the same time sit on the concrete road barriers being the first to get hurt in case of an incident. Unfortunately day one has seen 2 accidents, but there were no injuries. A lot of lessons learned, and the setup was changed for the second day which witnessed no accidents.

The road isn’t really for drag racing, it was slippery for stock cars, for modified vehicles it was all about the driver’s control.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2670,2664,2674,2681,2688,2691,2701,2716,2697,2737,2723,2757,2781,2791,2816,2794,2793,2802,2810,2809,2804″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

Overall I would like to thank the organizers, there are areas of improvement, but each year is witnessing an improvement over the previous year, I only wish we would learn from the mistakes, and maybe by next year we would have a track in Kuwait.

I’ve taken over 1000 shots in the event for those looking for their photographs for Friday, i’ve shot all the racers after the first Corvette Accident until the end of the day and I would send a link of the photograph via whatsapp and take requests via instagram in @its965

So, either post your requests in the comments section here, or through the instagram photo via DM.

Photos from Stage 1 of the Kuwait Rally

YousefCars, Events, Kuwait, Life, MotorSports, Photography, Rally Leave a Comment

I have taken a number of photographs from Kuwait Rally a couple of weeks back which I still haven’t shared on instagram or the blog, and I thought of posting them here and a link to the album so that the racers can get their photos, so if you know any racers, please share a link of the event with them!

I was there early as I spent the weekend at Al Joan Resort in Julai’a, so it was a matter of 5 mins drive from the shalaih, I took my son to have a look at the cars that were there at the time.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2542,2543,2546,2549,2550,2548″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

When the racers were all there, they parked in the start area, which was in front of the restaurant areas in the Seashell Julia’a resort.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2551,2553,2552″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

Initially I parked next to a building on the road that houses an electricity transformer, it was hot, I had a bad knee that day and I parked there and waited for the cars to pass by, I wasn’t really sure of the event locations, but I wanted to shoot as much of the drivers as I could.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2563,2565,2566″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2560,2561,2562,2564,2567,2574,2573,2568,2569,2570,2571,2576,2578,2579,2580,2581″ size=”small” columns=”4″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

The next set of photos is at the first stage of the rally, I didn’t have a 4×4 i was reviewing the Tahoe at the time and I didn’t want to risk getting the car stuck. So I was by the road mostly.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2082,2596,2607,2599,2620,2614,2621,2628,2612″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2630,2634″ size=”xlarge” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2636,2635,2631,2638,2625,2620″ size=”medium” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

Back with a New theme and Mentality!

YousefBlogging, Computers, Technology Leave a Comment

One of the main reasons I kind of stopped blogging for a while was the fact that I felt it took too much effort to post on my blog, ever since I changed my theme (which I Loved) it made life more difficult when it came to posting. The front end (the part you see) was very user friendly and looks great! However the backend of the website was a different story, it was broken in every way, the developer I contracted gave me an excellent theme, however they used another free theme for the basics and added so many features to it, they made it so heavy and non-flexible, they also put their logo everywhere! I paid quite a hefty sum, however, lesson learned only get logo’s from designers, leave the themes to wordpress theme designers.

Screenshot 2014-12-17 21.16.42

I’m still working on my new theme layout and design, currently studying web development via using team treehouse and Lynda and based my backend on the super theme – Theme X!

I would recommend Theme X to anyone designing a wordpress site, its a lot more user friendly as well as allows you to build unlimited designs and layouts with minimal programming knowledge. As you might be able to see i’m trying to rebuild my older design but to the better, and to do that i’m looking at different programming videos from TeamTreeHouse.

I’m also focusing on my small business, which i’ll talk about in another post in the coming days. Stay Tune! I always tend to overthink posts, which means that instead of the posts taking me a couple of minutes they take a couple of hours and then with the old backend it took me forever to resize the photos and videos, i’ll be posting more frequently now as its more device friendly, and i’ll be covering some cool activities coming up this weekend, as well as some new devices that are launched in the market.

The Kuwait “Desert Challenge” Championship

YousefCars, Events, Kuwait, Life, Photography Leave a Comment

Yesterday the Kuwait desert Challenge took place in the old Army barrack down in Bnaider (exit 258), there was quite a large number of participants, participation is free as well as the ability to enter both stock and modified vehicles (both 6 and 8 Cylinder vehicles). As I was entering the guy at the gate asked if I was going to be competing or watching the show, If only my car had less stuff in the back seat and trunk, you would’ve seen my car go up there too.

Lets show you some of the cool cars that were there at the event!

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2012,2013,2008,2057,2028,2018″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

A small accident took place at the event with a driver from KSA, his car flipped over as he came in too fast for a turn, paramedics and the fire department rushed to his aid, thankfully no one was injured.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2006″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”]

I Would recommend you do give the event a visit, a lot of cool participants, some nice upgrades to stock vehicles and some great driving was shown during the event! Everyone can participate, you don’t need to know someone or have a wasta, all you need to do is show up on time, and its preferable that you have your own helmet with you.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2043,2040,2034,2042″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center”]

Here are some more cool shots that i’ve taken during the event (All using my Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 17-70mm lens)

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2046,2027,2032,2033,2024,2010,2013,2022″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

Here’s one of the highest jumps we had by racing driver Soud AlOmani (who one first prize for 6 Cylinder vehicles ) :

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2036″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2080″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

At the end of the event was the prize giveaway ceremony :

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2068,2069,2070,2071,2072,2073,2074,2075,2076,2077,2078,2003″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

The Winners for the first round of the Desert Challenge were :

6 Clinder Category:

Fist Place : Soud AlOmani

2nd Place : Salem AlHajeri

3rd Place : Jarrah AlRabea’a

8 Cylinder Category:

First Place: Bader Baqer

Second Place : Nahi AlShimmery (KSA)

Third Place: Mahmoud Boqammaz

Modified/Open Category:

First Place : Hussain Mahdi

Second Place : Saleh AlAbdulali

Third Place : Salem Althefeeri

It was also nice to see offroading communities participating, one of the largest of which was team ORP Club, which had quite a nice presence and whose’ participants won a few awards!

[shashin type=”photo” id=”2065″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2061″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”] [shashin type=”photo” id=”2026,2033″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

For more information about the “Desert Challenge Race” and the “Sand Drag” Challenge, make sure to follow @bmrcq8 (Basel Al-Salem Al-Sabah Motor Racing Club) which are the organizers of this event, even with the large number of people I have to say the event was quite well organized, special thanks to the team that was behind all of this!!

The 2015 Tahoe – Leaves you speechless

YousefCars, Chevrolet, Technology, Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Before getting into the details of the 2015 Tahoe, I have to admit I was really impressed at what I have tried and it really changed how I looked at Chevrolet Tahoe’s! I had the perception of a large car, textile beige seats, dull plastic interior and boring handling.  The 2015 model was a full upgrade, everything was changed, the exterior, the interior and the overall quality all for the better.

Looking at it from the outside you will admire the lines, the bold front end and a feel of presence.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1912″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”]

You can straight away see the shining chrome from the front grille, and chrome accents from the handles, window frames and those large 20″ Rims.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1884,1882″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”]

From the rear of the car you will also notice the straight lines and sharp curves and the boldness I talked about earlier, setting a higher reference point for the other manufacturers for the future.

The Interior

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1858,1864,1859,1867″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center”]

The interior of the Tahoe is another story all together. If you remove all the badges and branding, and compare it to a European car’s interior, you’ll never beleive its an all american Chevy! Its amazing the advancement in the interior look and feel and quality. The seats are very comfortable and have both cooling and heating, the general feeling you get when you’re in the car is a feeling of luxury and space. The only thing I didn’t like about the new Chevy’s was the exit mode, which took the seats all the way back so that you can exit and enter the car easily, however when you enter the car you have to fix the seat up again, which is a hassle if you didn’t save your settings to memory (But there is a disable option – which for me was a must). The quality of the leather trim on the door and the wooden inserts again all gave a sense of luxury to the truck (NB: This is the LTZ optioned Tahoe, which has a little more options that the standard LT).

The Extras

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1875,1866,1865,1872,1862,1868″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center”]

In this LTZ model the car was pretty well equipped, a rear view camera, colored LCD screen with Mylink system, roof rails, front and rear sensors and electric side steps (which are pretty cool as it makes the car looks slicker and a little higher), I loved the rear power outlet which you can use to charge your laptop or any other appliance up to 400 W. The bose sound system, well you have to listen to it.

The Space

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1867,1876,1877,1869″ size=”medium” columns=”2″ order=”user” position=”center”]

The seats fit up to 7 adults (with the two in the back not as comfortable as the others, but still one of the largest 3rd row seats in consumer SUVs), however if the 3rd row seats are up the cargo space becomes just big enough to fit a couple of items as shown on the picture above, however, put the seats down and you have ample space or even more! All the seats had power recline, which made it easier to load things to your car, without having to go around and fold the seats manually.

The Overall Experience

I took the Tahoe over quite a long distance, all the way to Julia’ah to the shalaih and also drove around in the desert around the Kuwait Rally courses while I was photographing the rally event – didn’t take it quite off-road as it didn’t have 4×4, the AC is freezing cold with quite a nice volume of air being circulated by the system. The handling over long distances is comfortable, the acceleration from a standstill is swift and makes you feel like your driving a small car. The fuel efficiency was quite impressive (compared to my FJ cruiser). On our way back I had to connect my laptop to the power adapter and had some stuff I had to do for work, pulled over and my wife drove all the way back home, it was simple enough for her to handle even when it was her first time driving it, the steering wheel is light, braking is very controlled and acceleration is impressive.

[shashin type=”photo” id=”1881″ size=”large” columns=”1″ order=”user” position=”center”]

To be honest, this was one of the first cars that I felt suits my lifestyle in terms of size and performance, the only downside in my opinion is that it isn’t quite suitable for offroading (which is a seasonal thing ) but for a day to day car its more than suitable, the size of the rear seating guarantees you can carry your kids and their stuff around everywhere, it also looks great and is tailored to the younger generation quite a bit, I can see myself driving the wife and kids off to Bahrain for the weekend and back, you can always go and ask them for a test drive!

The Chevrolet Tahoe is available from Alghanim Auto (with a starting price of 12,895 KWD – with standard options that include: Rear View Camera, Color Screen, Roof Rails, Side Steps, front and Rear Sensors.

The Modbook Pro X- Every Designer’s Dream ?

YousefAccessories, Apple, Computers, LG, Mobile phones Leave a Comment

The Mod Book Pro X, stated as a kickstarter project with the aim of building some of the best Touch-Based Macbook Pro Tablets out there.

This video from Kickstarter will showcase what they have to offer :

With Regards to pricing, you can Mod your existing MBP or purchase a full system from ModBook Pro Inc’s online store. The prices are not cheap, but for what you are paying for its absolutely worth it and beats any other tablet out there  + its a full on computer and not a tablet that you will then connect to your computer which in my opinion makes it a whole lot worthwhile.

ModBook

They also have Windows variants and pledge they have the most powerful Windows based tablet as well :

WindowsModBook

In my point of view 4GB’s of RAM for windows PCs is absolutely not enough, especially if running the latest operating system (Windows 8), however it would be quite interesting.

They also carry some different accessories for the ModBook including a doc, digitiser pen and different storage solutions to beef up the existing storage. I would definitely love to try the Macbook Pro variant, as in my opinion the Mac OSx is more conservative regarding battery life and provides better machine performance at the same physical architecture.

Here is one of the video reviews I have found online :
