I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview at the Ferrari Tweaked Fiat 695 Abarth at Almulla & Behbehani Motor Co (AlRai Branch – Same Branch as Chrysler). A couple of days back, the car was incredible. 3 Words – I want one! The size the power, the looks, the color, the turbo boost dial –  Just incredible. I love it!
There are only 2 in Kuwait, the one in the showroom which has got a potential buyer making up his/her mind, and one with a lucky owner, who i’ve heard is now using it as his daily driver and enjoys it pretty much (Allah Ehaneekoum 🙂  )

Zain vs Viva – 2:0 For Zain

I didn’t know how to react the other day when I opened up Alrai News paper. It was hilarious. On the first page, Zain Launched the Samsung Galaxy S2, with three differnet offers as shown in the picture here (That’s 1:0):

 

If we move on to the Third page of the newspaper, you’d find Viva’s Ad (Full page) stating that their offer is exclusive (Thats 2:0 – Third page repeated news and exclusivity to a non-exclusive product)!

So we were wondering what was going on, especially that Viva were using the word “Exclusive”!  It turned out Viva signed an exclusivity contract with Samsung Kuwait’s Reseller, AlBabtain. Ofcourse since AlBabtain is only a reseller it wouldn’t stop other resellers from selling the devices to different carriers. At the end of the line its the same phone and you are getting a full year’s warranty from both the Telecom’s. Viva : from Albabtain, and Zain from Hatif 2000.  I really don’t know why Samsung didn’t go with Zain, as they would’ve had the largest exposure due to the number of showrooms and outlets in comparison to Viva. + Both phones are non-arabic versions, and Zain is offering a free arabic upgrade through hatif 2000 repair outlets.

The device would sell it self by itself its like a Toyota, it doesn’t need to be advertised, those into Android will go for it for sure, at least now its not exclusive to one carrier and Zain is apparently getting their act together, one success after another, first the iPhone last week and now the Samsung Galaxy S2, and the Sony Experia Play and the Motorola Defy, which we saw in their exhibition last month, whereas viva beat Zain with the iphone, but Zain hammered the prices and are selling it now for a really good price!

The war is on, and now its not only mobile services that will set apart carriers, its also  mobile devices, data caps and speeds. At the end of it, its better for us consumers in the end. Its easier for us to buy devices from carriers especially if we tend to change our devices each year 😛

Viva is trying its best to justify that Zain shouldn’t have the device, but I believe they’re just doing it in the wrong way. Give us better offers instead. Its out, Its 100% legal.

Is that a lost penalty shot by Viva ? Was so close to become 2:1. Viva lost.

 

I would like to congratulate Zain on their good offers the past week, Viva should work on giving us some new devices and better offers I guess, at least without changing them a year down the line (Like the 2 GB data cap which they placed – nearly 3:0 for Zain here..)

 

The Alfa Romeo 159 – True Italian Executive Automobile

This car just Works! The Looks of the front headlamps staring straight at you, the sound of the exhaust is just an extreme experience. I had a chance to test drive the new Alfa Romeo 159, in the beggining i didn’t think it was going to be anything new and would be like all the other 4 door saloons of its size. The only word that could describe this car after the test drive was “Different”!

Everything about this car, the looks, the acceleration, the speed, the handling, just makes the driving experience surreal! I Enjoyed driving it, the acceleration and the sound of the exhaust is just breathtaking, I had the stereo off the whole time just to listen to the engine noise and the sound that was coming out of the exahust. If only the weather was better you woudl’ve found my head hanging out the window just listening to the sound it made! End of story its a great car, and will make an excellent daily driver.

The interior seats are very comfortable and hold you in place, even when your cornering at higher speeds, the grip of the car to ground is just amazing, you can bypass traffic as if your in a sports car, the acceleration was so good and with the traction you got from the all wheel drive it made you feel invinsible, especially on those roads where the guy in fornt of you is either on the phone or chasing another car. The gear ratios are different, the car tends to rev higher than other cars i’ve driven and stays on the gear longer, that might be a make or break point for some people but for me it made me feel i’m really driving, and on the edge.

One thing I really would’ve liked is a sleeker rear exterior, the front is amazing, the back in my perspective needs an upgrade. The only other thing that might be extra features such as and iPod kit and maybe a screen. But then the simplicity of this car is one of the major factors you’d love!

Who would drive this car  ? I would say Its a person who really wants to get the most of life, the person who would smile when he listens to the car starting up and that exhaust sound, the person who wouldn’t settle for an average car of a certain genre.

The Alfa Romeo 159 is a compact executive car produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo since 2005.

The 159 was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.

One of the best place to go with your family and friends, very friendly atmosphere and best of all they also have some great gelato! I’m on a  diet and their frozen yogurt is just so goooooood and all fresh with no preservatives! My wife only has to say lets go to albairaq and you’ll find me getting changed in no time.

This is how the store looks like from the outside, my first impression was why all the pink :P, but they totally have something for everyone ! Food, ice cream, frozen yogurt, and Cool and warm beverages.

EVE online via Steam 6 GB updates to get it to work!

After I got my AlienWare I decided to give a shot at gaming, by buying and downloading a game through STEAM.  The game i downloaded was EVE Online. However to my shock. Everytime I started the game, the first landing image of the game would start and then nothing happened, and the game would quit!

 

How to Fix EVE landing page stall and quit :

1. Identify what version of the game you have installed.

2. Visit EVE Online’s Patches page

3. Select and download the correct patch according to the version you have. I had to learn this the longer way. I downloaded the latest patch only to find out that it said you have version blah blah blah.  So I then decided to download the patch corresponding to the version I had, which apparently was 1.7 GB in Size. (Guess if your on Qnet you have to download it in a couple of days :P)

4. That patch will trigger another update that said I was missing files (upto 4.9 GB of downloads). After that It was the Eureka Moment ! It worked At last !

5. Enjoy the Game!

 

Best Iphone Apps for the Gym?

At last, started hitting the gym again after a couple of months of couch-potato-ing 😛 hehe.. Everytime i wanted to go to the Gym i thought that it was far, I had to drive to it, didn’t want to do the workout.. But i ended up either in front of a TV set or my computer. This just wasn’t right!  I have an active Gym subscription, but my only problem is not going. I have decided since Sunday, i have to diet + go to a gym. I’ve reached that you’re going to blow up if you continue mentality and had to set things straight.

 

I used to use an app called iFitness on the iPhone and i enjoyed it. But for some reason they got out of developing for iOS and have an android version which in the comments says its not at all anything like the old Iphone app. I just erased all my phone recently and couldn’t download it anymore.

 

What apps for the gym do you recommend ?

 

My main criteria for an app is :

  • one that can calculate your BMI and other measurements,
  • one that can have a list of your trainig scheduel (and suggest one based on muscle groups)
  • one that can give you a trend or pattern overview of your training
  • one in which you can create your own training schedules.
  • If you can access your ipod controls through it, it’ll be a plus so that you wont have to leave the app if you want to change the song.
