Logitech K400 works with more things than advertised!

DudeGaming, General, Technology 1 Comment

I’ve been looking for a wireless keyboard for a while, and a couple of weeks back blink.com.kw had a good offer on it here for Kuwait.

I bought it to be able to use it with my home entertainment system and nothing much more, but apparantly it will work with nearly anything that supports a normal USB keyboard!

For starters, I tried it with my PS3, and to my amazement it worked fine! I can use both the mouse and the keyboard without any problem. Good value for money if you ask me , 10 KWD with blink’s offer really paid off 😀

The stated OS support at release were:

OS Support (at release) Windows XP x32, Windows XP x64, Windows Vista x32, Windows Vista x64, Windows 7 x32, Windows 7 x64

One thing i never thought that this would be working with is   a nokia phone! I was looking for some demo videos of the deivce and some guy actually used this with a Nokia N8 device!

I think they never really anticipated this.. The cheapest bluetooth keyboard for a PS3 system (the good ones) cost at minimum around 16-20 KWD, so in my view this is a good cheaper multipurpose alternative.

This is another video that has more information on the product.

Where to Apply For Community Service and Volunteering?

DudeEvents, Kuwait 5 Comments

I’ve been thinking of doing some community service, especially in areas of decreasing illiteracy, education, teaching about technology (computers) and  cars. Does anyone know where we can go to apply for some community service /Volunteering in those areas? Not that I have a lot of time on my hand but I really want to have an influence in society for the better even if for a couple of hours a week. I do believe that if each person gives a little back to society, Kuwait would be able rise again. We get free education, free health care, no taxes and random salary increments. I think its the least anyone could do. So if you have any ideas or places please share them so that we can all benefit, and lets all work on building  a better future.

Switching from HDD to SSD. Is it worth it ?

DudeComputers & Electronics, Education, General 9 Comments

For the past couple of days i’ve been thinking about switching my 750 GB  HDD in my Alienware M14x to a 256 GB SSD and replace my optical drive with a 2.5 Inch bay area that i can fit my current HDD in. SDD technology is now a lot more stable than it used to be when it came out, speeds have increased and storage and fetching algorithms have also improved, increasing the life and reliability of SSD drives.  So the easiest way to get some more speed from your current laptop would be a simple swap. Only downside is the price of SSDs are somewhat higher than the conventional HDD.

Here are a few videos that will show you the difference :

Online shopping from the East for a change?

DudeShopping Leave a Comment

I’m really wondering if any of our readers have ever tried to use the Chinese Aramex address and how successful was the shopping experience? Do you recommend any specific websites to buy from ? are they secure? What sort of payment method did you use? How long did it take them to ship? I’ll try giving it a shot and buy some things from the recommended websites in the aramex page and let you know what happens! Stay Tune..

I always liker to go to “Daiso” a shop within City Center Salmiya that sells house hold items and all sorts of differnet things that were either imported from Japan, ofcourse the quality is usually higher than the Chinese Items you’d find in co-ops.

One thing that made me laugh was the translation on a cutting mat that I bought :

I just hope I put a smile on your face 😀 Have a nice day Everyone!

Online Store in Kuwait Selling Fake Products!

DudeShopping, Technology 13 Comments

I was happy to see this offer of the Mophie Juice Pack Plus on one of the online daily deals site in Kuwait:

So the only thing to do was order it straight away. Only to find out later when i got home that the product was a fake and wasn’t the original mophie!

The quality was alot cheaper, the cover wouldn’t stay on the phone and was loose, the color of the yellow mophie was dull and looked nothing like the product photo online, the switch of the battery pack also looked a little too cheap to be true.

The nice thing is that when I called them up, they responded very politely and suggested that they did not hear from anyone that it was a fake and I was the first one to call back and that they would send a courier to pick it up and issue a refund.

While i was searching online, i found this article which shows how to spot a fake mophie:

http://spot-fake-products.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-spot-fake-mophie-juice-pack-plus.html

Do compare what you see on that site to the photos below! Again as a reminder, the main thing that really showed was the poor build quality, the dull color and the packaging of the device (especially the letters under the battery pack)

These are photos of the product i received:

[shashin type=”photo” id=”11647,11648,11649,11650,11651,11652,11653,11661,11660,11659,11658,11657,11656,11655,11664,11665,11666,11667,11669,11673,11672,11671,11670,11674″ size=”small” columns=”3″ order=”user” position=”center” crop=”y”]

Counterfeits are becoming very hard to identify, I would be ok to buy it at that price if they told me its not the original and its a copy (it only makes sense since it was 50% the price of the original), but i would never  accept to take a product that was sold to me as the original when it was a fake! I do urge anyone that buys a product and finds out its a fake to return it no matter how cheap it was to buy. Sellers Beware, this is the age of the internet.
