Make It Count!

Moving, exercising , eating less, burning more, i’m sure some of us aren’t doing enoughof that – including myself ! So I decided to take Marzouk’s path and get the Nike Fuelband. (got it for $149 from Nike’s website – shipped with relatives coming home from the States)

Check out the following videos that tell you more about it and how it works :

Amazing product, although some products of this nature already exist, and I was more lenient to purchase the FitBit shown in the video below, mainly because it takes more measurements and can also measure your sleep patterns, but I liked the community Nike+ offered and i went for that instead. Nike FuelBand — Would be the next habba in Kuwait for sure!

So Marzouk.. Are you ready for a challenge  ?

SSD Experience and the OCZ Vertex 4

I was able to grab the 128 GB SSD drive from OCZ Technologies. One word to describe how my computer feels ? Awesome! I only wished i’d picked up the 256 GB drive instead of the 128 GB drive!

It came with this cool decal sticker, which was as if it was made for the Alienware :

Installation was a easy except for removing 1 wire which (i removed before reading the instructions :P).

For the installation and what to do exaclty with the M14 X I used the following tutorial which was very helpful and was full with installation pics.

The connector I kinda broke 😛 lol

Where the HDD bay used to reside :

This is the secondary bay i purchased to replace the CD-ROM Drive :

HDD installed :

Everything went smooth except restoring from the Alienware restore program which has to have the exact same hard disk re-installed to work! I ended up getting a new Windows 7 professional instead! The whole hardware swap operation was smooth and took around 20 mins, the Alien Respawn won’t work on different sized drives (and you have to change the size of your drive using linux tools then creating  new recovery media) too long a story!

Another problem was the Blue Screen of Death you can see above, this occured after the computer came out of sleep mode, which was solved thankfully by upgrading the intel storage manager. Now everything is running smoooooooth and boy does the computer feel faster. I do recommending swapping hard-drives especially for PC’s and Macs that were purchased in the past year, since they will make the computers catch up to the computers that were recently released.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII – A disappointment?

DudeTechnology 4 Comments

Is it just me or have Samsung really over-hyped their upcoming S3 ? I have a friend at work who would say get a samsung over any other handset out there. What did I do when i looked at the official Specs?

I went on and bought myself an HTC One X! Too bad i didn’t buy one earlier. The S3’s specs were quite similar to the HTC’s specs. I’ll have to wait another month or two to be able to get the S3, and the wait is unjustifiable! Only major major difference is the removable battery and the external SD slot. In my perspective the HTC looks better (the Samsung looks so much like the Huawei X5 only thinner and bigger (where is their innovation – I loved the old style better).

The camera was another major disappointment, 8 Mega pixels camera is similar to all the phones that are new in the market, people were expecting a 12 Mega pixel camera, which was another reason not to wait for the device. The added software features were new, and unique but not a show stopper for me (maybe just the SBeam feature explained in the video below).

Have a look at this video  (so much talk about nature felt a little weird for me) :

What are your thoughts on the S3 ?

Health Clubs and Personal Trainers!

DudeHealth, Kuwait, Sports 7 Comments

Its becoming quite a trend now for health clubs to make you pay for supervision from the coaches in the gym, for people doing cardio all the time its not a problem, but those doing body building you have to have someone that at least makes sure you are doing the exercise correctly and carrying the weights right!

However today, in order for a  captain to help you out you have to pay either per hour or per month or by number of sessions, I wouldn’t mind but then they haven’t reduced the gym fees, and are asking you to pay more for their captains which in some gyms aren’t even half way certified and only have experience. After two or three sessions with the so called personal trainer you’ll find him trying to sell you either a course of steroids or at the least some below the shelf dietary supplements.

I’m the kind of person that likes going to the gym and knowing that I can at least get instructed what exercises to do, catered to what my body needs, no 2 bodies are the same and that’s the same with exercises as well.

Do you think its worth getting a personal trainer? or should I stick to my old routine of getting a list of exercises to do and depending on myself, paying extra is unjustified for me, especially in gyms where the personal trainer will also be probably training a couple of more individuals in the same time. What do you recommend? Are there specific gyms that you have tried and recommend me to try ?

The 2013 Ford Mustang Looking good!

DudeCars, Racing 2 Comments

Apparently the new Ford mustang comes with an upgraded exterior look, LED accents in the front Headlights and Good looking rear break/signal lights!  I used to own a Manual Gear 2007 Ford mustang GT, it was an absolute joy to drive to work everyday, I can’t imagine the power difference in the new engine than the one i had which was around 300 HP, the new ones boast 420 HP stock. I liked the mustang a lot, it was economical, fun, spacious (compared to cars in its class) and felt big enough for our roads (compared to the new Camaro – i’m not getting the dimensions of that car) somewhat affordable (also compared to cars in its range, and boasts a mean look and attitude.

Check out the video below for a walk around the 2013 Mustang. Make sure to have a look at the projection of the pony on the ground from the side mirrors at around 2:55 mins in the following video!

Ford are really starting to impress me on every car release! From the raptor to the mustang, incredible machines!
