BlackBerry’s Bloggers Night

DudeGeneral, Sneak Peak, Technology Leave a Comment

We were invited by RIM-Blackberry for  a bloggers night and for them to give us updates on their latest offers, devices and upcoming products and services.

Blackberry is growing close to the customers, in that its not like any other device manufacturer out there like Apple and Samsung, their actually creating a community for Blackberry users, with special offers and discounts with selected third parties. I.e. your phone/handset will be your window to many exclusive offers by Blackberry partners.

Some of these partners can be seen in the following photographs :

They also talked about their new curve 9320 handset and how its made for those who are on the go.

One other highlight of the evening was the BB 10. BB 10 is a new device/OS built from scratch in  a touch screen interface that will take the BB experience to the next level. Check out the following videos :

How to report Copyright infringement with Google

DudeGeneral 10 Comments

If you’ve read our previous post, then you’ll understand that we are NOT OK with plagiarism, and we don’t like it when someone takes credit for someone else’s hardwork.

I’m also happy to see that some of our other blogger friends were not happy with this and stood with us in out opinion:

* OwlOlive

* Blog37

Therefore for those of you who have content that was was infringed or copied without your consent here’s a how-to report to Google.

1. Go to the Report Abuse section in Google Blogger (or other).

2. After reading the terms Click on “Click Here To Report Abuse” Link.

3. Select Copyright/Piracy issues.

4. Click on Continue:

5. Select Blogger/Blogspot

6. Select Options as shown above and Continue if you wish to proceed.

7. Fill out the online notice, by clicking on the “this form” button i highlighted above.

Then you’ll have a form to fill up ensure that you add all the data and send it away. I don’t believe anyone should do this without mentioning the source, just to drive traffic to their website out of content that is not theirs!

I’m happy to see that the blog was removed, and I only hope that no one does the same in the future!

My AirFryer Experience

DudeFood 6 Comments

Its been a couple of months now since I bought my Airfryer and I only wonder why I haven’t bought it earlier! I don’t really know how to cook anything, or prepare anything to eat that had to be cooked. i can barbecue great but sometimes I just don’t feel like stepping outside and BBQing ;/ . A recommendation for the Airfryer came when I posted if I should buy the Actifry from Tefal, thanks god some of our dear readers suggested the Philips air fryer.

Easy to use?

For someone who has never cooked anything before in his life, its one of the best things to have in the kitchen after a refrigerator.  You need to know what temperature you should cook the food in (most say it on the carton/package) and the other thing you need to know how much time you need to set it for , which can be done by looking at the small table that comes with the machine (I have mine magnitized on the fridge).  I.e. two things – Temperature and Time! + A timer

Easy To Clean ?

The one thing people generally hate about cooking is the clean up afterwords. For the air fryer its simple, after it cools, put it in the dishwasher. Start the dishwasher, and go eat that meal in front of the tv :p

Portion Size:

The only major downfall of this is the portion size, if I have the space i’d buy 2. One to prepare the fries and onion rings and the other one to prepare the food, so that they would both finish at the same time.  The amount of food you can prepare depends on the size of the meat/food itself. E.g. small hamburgers (up to 5-6 at once, using the small seperator too). With Fries, up to 500 grams which is enough for a group of 4-5 people. With Chiken Tikka its enough for a group of 2-3 (500 Grams)  people with each getting at least 6 pieces. I would probably end up buying another one just so that I can prepare portions at once, and not wait 15 mins till one is ready to prepare the other one.

What I cooked with it ?

Chikken Tikka, Shish Tawooq, Meat Tikka, Kabab, Hamburgers, Chiken Burgers , onion rings. (most of these i bought from the coop, meat tikka was fresh from the butcher and was as good as barbecuing), and ofcourse fries, its great to experiment on, especially that the cleanup is fast.

Who should have it ?

Anyone and everyone, if you are willing to spend 20 minutes preparing and eating your own food instead of ordering take aways all the time, if you are willing to give your children healthier less-oiled up foods then this is for you. Only downside for a large family is that the amount of food you can cook is limited but its perfect for a family of 4-5.

How much oil I added when frying with it?

NON at all! Most of the stuff you buy comes pre-cooked and in oven cooking you seldom have to add additional oil! With burgers, shish tawooq and fries I never added any oil to my cooking, if it was to be fried conventionally i can only imagine the amount of oil that the food would be in!

Downsides ?

1. You have to shake the food so that the heat gets distributed evenly in between the cooking (I do it every 5-6 mins).

2. The limited portion size that you can cook at any given time is a little small.

Bottom line : YOU SHOULD GET ONE – Its worth it!

Cure for Allergy ?

DudeGeneral 12 Comments

I’ve been almost dying every time I go to my parents house as they’ve adopted two kittens (which are now a year old). Every time I go I end up having to leave early, stay in a specific place in the house to avoid contact and if i’m really unlucky i’d end up in the hospital due to the fact that my trachea is completely blocked from the allergic raction.

Allergies from cats have been really troubling me, especially that the symptoms can be really annoying: coughing, sneezing, loss of voice, slowly I get trouble breething. Ok, there is a solution to take some allergy medication before I go, which sometime works and sometimes doesn’t, but is there a cure ?

Yesterday I went and had an allergy test to Identify what i’m allergic to.

The Auris Plaza Hotel Experience

DudeHotels, Travel 2 Comments

Last week I took my family to Dubai, and I always want to try and experience new places to stay specially in Dubai, since no hotel is like the other. This holiday we stayed a short 3 days in the Auris Plaza Hotel, A five star hotel located in the AlBarsha District, just a few minutes away from the Emirates mall.

It took me a while to get to the hotel, as it wasn’t in my GPS device or on google maps, however located behind the Dunes hotel Apartments I was able to find it. The location of the hotel from the Emirates mall was just 1 traffic signal away and took us about 3 mins to get to the emirates mall. Getting to and from the hotel was also easy.

The hotel lobby design was nice and modernistic, every floor looked exactly the same and as you go up the glass elevator you look at replicas floor by floor.

The Bedroom we chose was the Executive Double Room, about 45 Sq meters in size, spacious, great comfortable bed and sofas, 40″ LCD TV, and entertainment and charging dock.

Here’s the Charging dock, DVD player and entertainment system that’s connected to the TV:

Overall our stay was very comfortable, its a great hotel (only open for 4 months now), very friendly staff, very helpful. Everything in the hotel is modern and up to date, the Nespresso coffee machine prepared great coffee, dominos pizza was a phone call away. I would recommend this hotel both for families too as there is a small play room and small gym and swimming pool on the roof. The only downsides were that there was no high-hanging sign to say that this is the hotel, and there was no indication on google map of the hotel either + the breakfast menu was very limited, but good, and would fuel up for the day.
