Tesla Model S – Car of the Future?

DudeCars, Computers & Electronics, Technology, Travel 1 Comment

Im sure that we’ll be seeing Teslas in the near future in Kuwait,  when exactly, I’m not so sure,  it might become a future trend like everything else here in Kuwait. For those of you that dont know the Tesla,  its a fully electric car that can travel to speeds up to 130 mph,  and go distances of around 500 miles on a full charge. It does come with an AC hehe and its not currently available in the middle east,  currently only in US and some countries in Europe.

I took these pictures of the Tesla in their showroom at Tyson Corner Shopping Mall in Virginia last week.

The interior of the car was most impressive.  unfortunately there were to many people and i was using my iphone to photograph these.

The chasis is fully made from aluminum as shown in the following photo :

It had very spacious front and rear storage spaces and no engine under the hood.

According to the staff there you get instant power and can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 4.2 seconds and yes it has an AC that they say is quite good and economical since the air isnt also used to cool down other engine parts like what you might have on conventional cars.

As you can see theres also a lot of room for customization there.

Here’s a good review by caranddriver with an overview of the car..  Do you think we’ll see them on our roads i  the next few years?

OBLIQ The new name in mobile protection

DudeComputers & Electronics, Review, Shopping, Technology, Telecomm Leave a Comment

I was browsing arround in Amazon looking for a replacement to my Spigen cover after it broke in the hands of my little ones.  I ordered a Spigen Slim Armor for my wife.

But i decided on trying an alternative,  thats when I found Obliq.  It costs 9.99 and unlike many covers out there its actually made in Korea.  Its very sturdy and strong and protects the front back and sides of the phone pretty well.  The only downside of the case is that its difficult to remove the phone from the case onve installed and i had to push it out from the camera hole to get it out.
One extra advantage of the obliq is that it comes with a screen protector sticker,  however i havent tried it since i have a spigen glass Tr screen protector on my phone,  which fits perfectly with the obliq cover.

Here are the photos of the Obliq cover:

Here’s what you get inside the package :

The case, screen protector and application card and manual for the protector.

This is what the inside of the case looks like, one note to point out here is the good spacing for the camera and flash, without blocking and limiting the flash brightness.

Here’s a close up of the case’s packaging, which outlines all the features of the case :

Overall i would recommend this case if you wouldn’t mind carrying the extra size, believe me its really worth it especially after having to replace the Samsung’s screen once already.

If you are interested in the case, here’s the link to the item in Amazon, they have pretty much all the major phone’s covered.

How to get an International Driver’s license in Kuwait

DudeCars, Internet, Kuwait 1 Comment

I’ve recently traveled to the United States, and as you might know depending solely on taxis might be very very expensive. I currently have the older Kuwait licence which I heard conflicting arguments on whether it is valid in the United States, so i passed by to get the international drivers license just in case.

Instead of reinventing the wheel i decided to look online and found a great post from mark at  248am, although a little old, the information is still valid today.

All you need is a new personal photograph and a valid Kuwaiti Licence. 1. Go to the Kuwait International Automobile Club Co. located in Shuwaikh just before Sultan Center on the forth RR. Simply turn right and right, continue about 800 mtrs and you will find the place on your left. There is adequate parking and very little congestion if you go in the afternoon.

Here’s the location:

1. Go to the location of the Kuwait International Automobile Club Co. (they have a couple of locations in Kuwait).

2. Get the form from the counter and fill up all the details (you have to fill up your details in ENGLISH ONLY).

3. Submit your form and photograph as well as the license/copy of the license to the guy at the counter.

4. Pay the fees (10 for a year, 18 for 2 years, 24 for 3 years). (not 100% sure on the prices)

In 10 minutes time you will have your international driver’s license.

I’ll be adding the photo of the Intl driving licence I acquired, but I have a very limited computer as i only took my netbook along and I need to modify/blur out some of the personal information.

Anyone try the contour ?

The Wolverine – Overrated ?

I was very eager to watch 2 Guns, but unfortunately the cinema was full and had to pick a backup movie which was “The Wolverine”. Having looked at IMDB and a rating of 7.1, I thought this movie can’t go wrong and will be great. To my surprise this movie was maybe one of the least interesting marvel movies i’ve seen in a while. It seemed so low budget because nearly all the actual acting locations felt like they were in one place, there wasn’t much high tech and the storyline was very predictable. Some parts of the movie were nice but not amazing.

The story gets a bit boring and long in the middle, you seem to know whats going to happen, and then disappointed by the way it was carried out. But then that’s just my opinion.

I would recommend watching it at home, not worth going to the cinema for, and you wouldn’t really miss a lot if you took a break in the middle of the movie. I would give it a rating of 5.5 but that’s mainly because I was expecting a lot more!

Has anyone seen it ? What did you think about it ?

Winter Season Shopping has started!

DudeKuwait, Photography, Promotions, Technology Leave a Comment

Every year we eagerly wait for the winter season here in Kuwait. Most of our days off will be outdoors and off-road!

I’ve officially started preparing my car and my gear for this year’s season, checking all the off road gear on my car, ordering some new toys and looking for those great deals.

Starting off, one of the best deals so far was the Go Pro Hero black edition, which sells here for 165-170 KD. I was able to find it on amazon for 99 KWD!

Go Pro

Grab the deal while it lasts !! Here’s the Amazon Link

I’ll be posting up cool camping and offroading gear when I come by them this season, so stay tuned!

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs Out At last!

DudeTechnology, Telecomm Leave a Comment

Wasn’t expecting much improvement to the older models, the belzel was made smaller pushing the screen to 5.7″, processor might come in quad or octa core variations, the impressive thing about it is the 3GB of RAM which will improve multitasking ability on the samsung. Will I buy it ? Hmm.. I might. I loved the Note II, I’m only afraid that if its too much like the S4 it might be very fragile. We’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s another video, showing us the differences between the note 2 and note 3 :
