iOS 5, Still coming soon :(

DudeApple, Technology, Telecomm 3 Comments

I’ve been trying since 10 AM this morning and refreshing their site 1000 times per minute, According to their keynote the update is set for Oct 12, and its passed 12 AM in Cupertino time 😛 But i still haven’t got tot he page that says the update is today.

I’ve also had a serious error on my Win 7 64 bit Alienware,  I keep on getting an error installing iTunes 10.5, so that i’ll be ready to download the iOS once its here!

Getting ready for the update :

For now, YOU too should get ready :P,

1. Backup your iDevices:

Transfer all your purchases, backup all your image files to a separate storage too just incase. It will also help emptying your application file storage so that you want have Gig’s of movies stored in your backup files (these can be added in later) if you want them  its better to manually move them, else you’ll end up with a 20 GB backup file.

2. Download iTunes 10.5 here

3. Keep checking for updates 😛

Popconropolis – Pop Corn the way it should be!

DudeFood, General 4 Comments

We were lucky enough to be sent a sample of some GREAT Flavored popcorn by “Popcornopolis” which is an American Brand, still not available anywhere in the Middle East, and will be launching soon in August in Baroue Kuwait in the Avenues.

How was it  ?

It was one of the best flavored Pop Corn i’ve tried in a while, even better than the one people here get from Dubai (or at least my taste buds like it more :P)

The New Tiguan 2012 is in K-Town!

DudeCars, General 4 Comments

We were invited to cover the launch of the Tiguan 2012 ! The car starts with a base price of around 7950 (Depending on the options), and comes with a standard parking assist option, which sets this car apart from its rivals in it’s range! Unfortunately I didn’t take this car for a test drive, I might do sometime in the future.

I’ll leave you with a few pics i took and a couple of youtube Vids!:

Click on “Read more” for more photos of the interior and some youtube videos on the car!

I have an unfortunate problem with one of the agencies here in Kuwait (Toyota). You see before i bought my car (FJ Cruiser) I checked with them about servicing my car with them, and they said well, if you are importing your car from abroad, you can service it in the agency as long as your number plates remain from the country of origin.

Why i didn’t buy my car from the Kuwait Agency?

Simply when I wanted my car, it wasn’t available ! There was a black one and a blue one, and I wasn’t really into those colors, and when I said ok i’ll take the blue one, they said it was a mistake and it was already reserved and the black one was sold. I said ok, here’s 4000 KD (just sold my other car) book me a yellow one! I’ll wait but i need to know when it will arrive. What they said? No. We cannot book a car if there’s nothing showing up in the computer, and now we are totally not sure when it will arrive, and if that color will be available.

Where I got my car from?

I got it from the Toyota Agency in Khafji, full gulf specs, with more options than the Kuwaiti Agency, and nearly the same price (due to the additional options).

What happened next ?

The first 2 services I did in Kuwait, and then the agency, decided somehow to ban servicing any imported cars! This can only happen in Kuwait, I don’t know how you can ban servicing or issuing providing a customer service! Especially if its the only authorized Toyota service center in Kuwait!!

Toyota Japan ?

i emailed toyota Japan, had to send several emails to get it to the right person, however they said Toyota Kuwait will solve your issue. I was contacted by a guy in Kuwait, went to his office, his solution was another garage to service my car which was not an authorized toyota service center!

My Question..

Is it legal for Agencies to BAN servicing imported cars especially if they are the only “authorized” ones in the country? I need a legal answer.. seriously any help will be highly appreciated.

What I Currently Do?

Every 1.5 months I have to go to Khafji to take my FJ for an oil change, so that I do not loose my warranty, sometimes I think its’ not worth it.. But it is, you never know whats going to happen, I know its a toyota, and I can service it anywhere and it’ll still run, but having a valid warranty is mandatory for me especially on a new car.

Possible Solutions for this problem (All out of my hand):

1. Toyota Kuwait to allow servicing of imported cars by :

– Taking an initial fee (which is what most agencies in Kuwait do)

– Only allow minor servicing (i.e. 5000 Km oil changes)

– Charge Extra money from the service which i’m sure a lot are willing to pay instead of driving to khafji.

– Just allowing imported cars that have a full service history!

These are possible scenarios from the top of my head, i’m sure there are other possible solutions.. But seriously is it legal for them to BAN servicing imported cars, and why do they ban servicing – I love Toyota, if there was one here I would’ve bought it from them but unfortunately in my case there wasn’t. I have to live with it i guess.

Did Any one face this issue ? Any Solutions ? Any Thoughts?

Today was one of those days where it hit me! “i’m not the old me any more”. I don’t really care about my weight or how I look, I’ve been taking breaks from my obligations as a writer in this blog. I’m not covering as many events as I used to and i’m not going to the gym.

Time? I’ve got time, i’ve got loads and loads of time, It’s what I want to do instead. I’ve turned into a couch potato – literally, I managed to loose over 6 Kilos in Ramadan and the month before, checked out my weight this morning, I gained 4 of the 6 i lost back.

This is where I draw a line.

Why YOU should try the GulfRun simulator!

DudeCars, Competitions, Competitions/ Contests, Computers & Electronics, General, Racing 3 Comments

Ok, coming from the guy who came last (btw: i didn’t know they were going to rank us! I would’ve had a second try at least :P)  it was quite an interesting experience. I’m used to playing driving games, i’m a huge GT fan, however this was totally different. To be honest I totally underestimated the game, i thought it was just another driving simulator, similar to GT, or forza, it wasn’t! In my first lap I tried to drive like I usually do, 1 hand on the steering wheel and the other on the shift knob.. That totally didn’t work and I ended up creating  a new track on the grass 😛

Was it realistic?

Hell yeah! The pedals were tied up to adjustable weights to simulate what it actually be like in a racing car, this type of  simulator is used by Formula one test drivers to learn and understand tracks before they go out on the track and burn rubber, and they can do as many laps as they like without the cost of new tires, brake pads and other parts!

Another point is you have to be under 95 KG’s (i think) to try it out.. why? There are hydraulic actuators that move the seat according to the motion of the car, taking it from a two dimensional experience to a 3D experience, add a scent of some burning rubber and you’re in the real thing 😛  The seat kinda takes you to another level, hoever good you may be in driving simulator, being thrown from one side to another is a totally different experience, which can throw you off guard, especially when also trying to grip the steering wheel and maneuver the shift knob (which for me seemed to be the opposite way around, up shifting was downwards, and down shifting was upwards :s) .

Why you should try it?

If you haven’t been on a track, which i haven’t, and don’t want to spend a fortune going and messing up your car, you can simply go to Baroue and try GulfRun’s simulator, at least you can have a taste of what it feels like for 2.5 KD.

[sthumbs=1498|1497|1496,144,3,n,center,]

Who should try it ?

Everyone.. I heard that the younger generation (12-16) have been scoring good numbers, and are doing pretty well there. It was a blogger’s only event but you can see people queuing up to try it out and asking when it will be open to the public!

Where is it located:

Avenues -> Baroue -> first floor -> right next to the entrance

Breath Right – literally !

DudeGeneral, Sleep Leave a Comment

I’ve been having an issue for a while, which is that I tend to breathe through my mouth especially when sleeping at night causing, me to wake up with the driest throat ever. The other day I was at a co-op and saw these breathe right nasal strips that allow easier breathing through the nose.

I usually never buy these things but I thought i’d give it a try! 2 words – its great – it totally works and you can feel the results immediately, you’ll feel a lot better (as if u installed new filters lol) , I couldn’t believe it. They come in a couple of different sizes for a perfect fit. It also helps prevent snoring – have to check with my wife about that one hehehe..

This is what it looks like:

I got it for about 1.4 KD, which is worth it.. every night’s sleep is gonna cost me 140 fils now 😛 hehe but its worth it! Just a note, these are from the original company and are made in the states!
