We had a great time at Gulf Run, atmosphere was great and cars were even better! Usually dudette always goes to gulfrun and I would regret missing all the fun, this time I decided to be there from day one!
So many great photos i have over 2000 photographs that I have to go through and filter out, but believe me there will be some great shots in there!
I’ve also tried to get a photo of all the participants and their cars as a nice memory for them, so if you’re a driver who participated in GulfRun, make sure to check out our instagram account for the photos to come! I’ve done a lot of video shooting which I will share with our friend Faisal AlRajhi for him to edit, i’m sure he will do one hell of a job!

Yesterday we were invited to the launch of the new Cadillac CTS in Kuwait, it was an ok event overall, though lacked a lot of organization :/ . But since I’m a genuine petrol head i can care less, i was there to see the car, which was another disappointment, they only had one car for everyone to see, which meant it was very very difficult to get good shots of the car without another photographer pushing you or trying to get a shot and very professionally blocking you!

Its one thing to have a nice restaurant menu with all the food photographs and overall good design, but a quality check has to be made before having your menu out for people to read and order from.
I’m not teasing the restaurant for doing this i’m just hoping all restaurants will learn from this restaurant’s mistakes and check their published menus before printing. I wont mention the restaurant’s name either!
Yesterday we were invited to the official opening of the Mercedes AMG Performance center in Kuwait, the middle east has seen a rise of sales of Mercedes Benz AMG cars over the past, now Mercedes Benz Kuwait has opened up a dedicated AMG performance center to display and cater for all the latest range of AMG Models, what does that mean for AMG customers, well, the center has a separate waiting and consultation area for AMG customers and a dedicated AMG sales team.
Here are some of the Main highlight and Cars that were on Display during the event :
We were first presented with a number of Videos showcasing the latest AMG vehichles and a history of AMG with Mercedes Benz and a few speaches by Albisher and Alkazemi Co.’s Director- Mohammed Albisher, CEO – Michael Ruehle, and Dirk Fetzer, Director Sales & Marketing , Daimler Middle East and Levant Dubai.

Here was the ribbon cutting, and a plaque handed over to the the exclusive general distributr for mercedes Benz in Kuwait for their high performance and sales in the region.

The Monster of the Evenging : G63 AMG 6×6 (it only costs around 175K) – Looked a lot bigger in real life, but I loved every part of it! Wish We can take this toy offroading it’ll make more sense than to have it in a garage or in a showroom! Amazing technology, i spent most of my time looking under the fenders at the suspension and the technology under the car, its what seperates it from any other commercial car out there! Amazing, amazing.. Could’nt get enough of it I had to walk away.
I’ve always loved the Note, ever since the note 2, I liked the longer battery life, the larger than life display, the crisp screen, in my point of view you don’t really use the stylus a lot, its very useful when trying to illustrate on a map or jot down quick notes sometimes.
However I just got the S4 maybe 3-4 months back and i’m not really sure if its a worthwhile upgrade. There are speculations that there might be a Samsung S5 in the horizon, rumors say that the release date would be in Q1 of 2014, that leaves us with about 2 more months maximum. Is it worth upgrading the S4 to Note 3 I wonder ? The market price for the Note 3 would be about 179 (from Hatef 2000), and the resale value for the S4 i presume would be between 80-100KD, so It will approximately cost me 100 for an upgrade which might or might not be worthwhile, just like what happened when I got the Note 2, a couple if months later and we got the LTE enabled S4, and I had to move to LTE.
What also makes this a harder choice are the rumors for the upcoming S5 :
The main key attractors in those rumors are the screen resolution, and the 64-Bit Exynos chip which should take multitasking to another level. The Camera, rugged body are an added benefit. Some reports say that the launch may be in the Mobile World Congress that’s going to be held in Barcelona in February. You never know.. I guess I might wait a couple of more months to the new Note 4, which might feature a three sided display. So many rumors these days you wouldn’t know what to believe!
Its been a long long time since I last logged on to Shop and Ship, mainly due to using other service providers to ship from the states, however I need a Hong Kong mail forwarder and so I decided to check shop and ship again, last time i logged on they only had US, UK, UAE and Hong Kong, apparently now they added Istanbul, Mumbai, Johannesburg and Shanghai. Amazing, but I wonder what you can buy from all those different countries now. I’ll be trying out the Hong Kong one for now and we’ll see how it goes, its been quite a while since i’ve shipped through aramex, maybe they changed, are you still using them? How’s their service, last I remember it was a little slow and the shipments would take a long time just to get from their offices to the house.
I like competitive games and although it’s not a new concept, the cross platform and login feature of the game makes it more impressive and nicer to play and means you can play wherever you are, just remember if you quit in the middle of the game you loose :/

As you play you rank up and gain coins, as well as the ability to play higher stakes. Non of the coins are actual cash (you can buy but I would not recommend it as it will be like gambling.), so I simply play and play to rank up as much as I can, and gain as many coins as I can as well.
This is weher it gets tricky, and your luck plays an important part in this game as sometimes your apponent can win by hitting one last shot and something goes wrong, giving you the chance to make things right again and win!

An updated law was passed today regarding changing the speeds limits for some of the major roads in Kuwait :

أصدر وكيل وزارة الداخلية المساعد لشؤون المرور اللواء عبدالفتاح العلي قرارا اداريا بشأن حدود السرعات على الطرقات العامة نص على ما يلي:
المادة الأولى:
أ – تكون حدود السرعة على الطرق السريعة والطرق الخارجية التي تربط الطرق السريعة والرئيسية داخل المناطق بمنافذ البلاد كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 120 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الادنى لسرعة المركبات 80 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 80 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 60 كم/ساعة.
Maximum Speeds in External Roads and interlinking Roads is 120 Km/h and at a minimum of 80 Km/h, For trucks (80 km/h Max, 60 km/h Min)
ب – تكون حدود السرعة على الطرق السريعة ما بين الدائري السادس والدائري الثاني كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 100 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة المركبات 50 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 60 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 45 كم/ساعة.
For all the roads leading between the 2nd and 6th Ring road the speed will be reduced to 100 Km/h, the minimum speed will be 50 Km/h. For Trucks (Max 60, Min 45)
ج – تكون حدود السرعة على الطرق السريعة ما بين الدائري الثاني والدائري الأول كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 80 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة المركبات 40 كم/ساعة.
For All the roads between the 2nd Ring Road and the First, the speed has been reduced to 80 Km/h and a minimum of 40 Km/h
د – تكون حدود السرعة على الدائري الخامس ابتداء من طريق عبدالعزيز آل سعود شرقا حتى تقاطع الأندلس مع العارضية غربا كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 100 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة المركبات 50 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 60 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 40 كم/ساعة.
The Maximum Speed for the Fifth Ring Road will be decreased to 100 Km/h between the King Abdulaziz Road to Andalous.
هـ – تكون حدود السرعة على الدائري الأول السريع حول المدينة غربا كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 100 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة المركبات 50 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 60 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 40 كم/ساعة.
The Speed on the First Ring Road will be increased to 100 Km/h west around the city.
الطرق الدائرية
كما نصت المادة الثانية من القرار على ما يلي:
أ – تكون حدود السرعة على الطرق الدائرية من الدائري الأول الى الدائري الرابع كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 80 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة المركبات 45 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 60 كم/ساعة.
– الحد الأدنى لسرعة الشاحنات والمركبات الثقيلة 40 كم/ساعة.
ب - تكون حدود السرعة على الطرق الرئيسية المجمعة داخل المناطق كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 60 كم/ساعة.
ج – تكون حدود السرعة داخل المناطق السكنية كما يلي:
– الحد الأقصى لسرعة المركبات 45 كم/ساعة.
The maximum Speeds from the First Ring Road until the Fourth Ring Road shall all be set at 80 km/h.
داخل المدينة
كما نصت المادة الثالثة من القرار على ما يلي:
تكون حدود السرعة القصوى داخل طرق مدينة الكويت 45 كم/ساعة ويستثنى من ذلك شارع الخليج العربي من تقاطع شارع السور شرقا (جمعية المهندسين) الى تقاطع شارع السور غربا (تقاطع المقصب) حيث تكون السرعة القصوى للمركبات 60 كم/ساعة.
In The city, the maximum driving speed would be 45 Km/h
كما نصت مادته الرابعة على:
استثناء من القواعد الواردة في المواد ( 1و2 و3) فانه يجوز للادارة العامة للمرور القيام بتحديد السرعات على الطرق العامة بالزيادة أو النقصان استنادا الى المواصفات الهندسية وكثافة حركة المرور وطبيعة المركبات ونوعية الرحلات على الطرق العامة وطبيعة المناطق التي تمر بها على تلك الطرق.
بينما نصت مادته الخامسة على:
على الجهات المعنية العمل على تنفيذ هذا القرار اعتبارا من اليوم 2014/1/1 وأن يتم الغاء كافة ما يخالف ذلك.
The law is to be acted upon on 1/1/2014.
Personally i think there’s no big change, except the speed between the 6th and 2nd RR being reduced to 100 Km/h which for people who live after the 7th Ring Road wouldn’t be very convenient. That’s the problem when people making the rules don’t live as far off as some people who will be mostly affected by the laws!
Rush
Its one of those movies which talks about the rivalry between two great F1 legends, Niki Lauda and James Hunt! You’ll be really hooked onto the movie and will watch it from beginning to end! Its for everyone not just petrol heads, and I do recommend everyone to watch it!

The persistence, the motivation to win, the competition between the two drivers is amazing! The movie is mainly focuses on Niki Lauda, and how he survived and got up from his accident to win the rest of the World Series (not the one right after the accident though).
Niki Lauda
I think if we were told the story it would’ve been hard to believe, but having it in a movie it was amazing. i admired the way Niki Lauda put percentages on risk and wouldn’t risk his life above 20% because he cared about his family, an amazing person, amazing understanding of automobiles and identifying all the areas of improvements, his seriousness just amazing!. It will definitely make you want to read more on Niki Lauda, again Great Movie and a Must Watch! Here’s the IMDB link.
