I’m not sure if you have seen this before, i find it pretty impressive, According to worldCarFans Mercedes have just stated that they might have a self driving car by 2017, with the vast improvements in technology it might just be true that there will come a time where we can put our cars on Autopilot and have smart cars with smart roads and smart parking, the only thing we might need more of are people with smarter driving skills and less distractions on the road.

Totally In love, I currently use a 27″ wide Samsung monitor at work, and at home I have a double monitor setup (23 Inch Wide and 24 inch wide LEDs) but this might just mean i’ll replace the two screens to one. Imagine the timeline if you’re video editing, imagine multisaking with 4 different panels in one screen. Hmm.. definately in my wish list, gotta find one to review 😀

This is another one ultra-wide 29″ display from dell

The dell Ultrasharp ultra-Wide LED-lit monitor will only set you back $599 (Amazon) which isn’t a price I’m willing to pay just yet 😛 Unfortunately same with the LG monitor. I guess we’ll have to wait a month or two for the prices to become a little more reasonable as does all technology in time.

Currently choosing between Two routers with a price difference of around 15 Kd, from 49.950 KD to 60 KD. The major technical differences are that the EA6500 comes with a new wireless technology the 802.11AC (yeah AC) its new to me too, apparently it will be cable of higher data rates and better range.

Taking all of that into consideration, you still have to know that it will take a couple of years for electronics manufacturers to implement the 802.11AC networks in their devices, therefore it might be an added benefit that i’d never use unless i purchase additional WiFi dongles. I’ll be digging in some more, my only reason for upgrading is that i feel my Belkin router isn’t performing up to my desired standards and I think a better router would give me better online performance, would be great if you can try before you buy hehe..
Here’s a nice comparison chart I got from Amazon.com, which shows exactly which come with which features.
Anyone tried any of these models?
Today we were invited to try out a new place in the grand Avenues. Quite a nice concept and there’s something for every taste.
First thing’s first : The definition of a Bagel : “A bagel (also spelled beigel) is a bread product, traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, which is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior. Bagels are often topped with seeds baked on the outer crust, with the traditional ones being poppy or sesame seeds. Some also may have salt sprinkled on their surface, and there are also a number of different dough types such as whole-grain or rye.” -wikiPedia
I really didn’t think it would actually taste so good, it was light and full of flavour.
The Bagel Bar Coffee house is located in first floor of the entrance of the Grand Avenues in the same line as elevation burger, and to the top left of The Cheesecake factory.
We were given a choice of bagels to try, I personally liked the pepperoni bagels full of flavor and left you with that satisfied feeling of eating something delicous (i was hungry and it made me quite happy I wanted to order take away’s but it was a soft launch and they weren’t selling 🙁
Overall I’d highly recommend at least trying the bagels, i’m sure it’ll be a hit when they start delivery service in the coming months. Another great advantage is that all the calories are calculated for you and they rate the meals with different symbols in order of calorie intake, quite a nice unique way of doing things.
Their restaurant menus also caught my attention, the vectors they used and the effects were like it was a printed display, whereas it was in fact an LCD screen, it was eye catching, and had a modernistic feel which I really liked, it gave the place a very nice touch.
A special thanks for the guys at The Bagel Bar, and evolution group for the invite and opportunity to try out this great new place.
Using a mobile handset is nothing like it was couple of years ago. Just imagine what it would’ve been like with all this advancement in technology when you were still studying! i envy the current generation in their choices of technology, the wealth of information in their fingertips, just amazing. I remember the first year I went to college (2003) I used to carry around this heavy Toshiba Pentium 4 laptop around with my Nokia 6510 (aka Tiger) Edge connection was just out, and I chose to upgrade my laptop’s RAM and sacrificed my Laptop’s Wifi card since there weren’t many hotspots all around like there are now.

Back then it was Top of the line cost around 1400 KD, I only wish they made laptop as good as they used to (the screen resolution was around 1600×1200) and that was before HD videos, the mouse pad was an LCD screen, it came with Harmon Kardon speakers that really made some serious noise, you can play CD’s without switching on the laptop and connect your headphones and enjoy.
Aah speaking of the Nokia 6510, was an end of school year present from my Dad, used to have a Nokia 3210 (aka Bashar) before that and a couple of other I can’t seem to remember. Do you remember what these phones looked like?

Even before that I had weirder phones. One of the phones I used to like was the Ericsson GH688, also had a nokia 2110

It was a hit back then, especially with those LED antennas that would light up when there’s signal interference or an incoming or outgoing call. Some of the phones that were a hit when I had the GH688 were the AlCatel Handsets (the one powered by a battery, and one that came with a speaker phone).
If you were a nerd YOU WOULD HAVE a Website on Geocities or Angelfire.com and would have a back background, fluorescent text and an Midi playing in background LoL – (Good thing they took it down lol___) .
Remember ICQ ? OhOh – mIRC and all those scripts you can buy in Hawally and never figure out how to use them and infect your PC with viruses in the process.
Remember buying 1000 SMS for 10 KD prepaid EezEe, remember creating ringtones by entering combinations of numbers in the ringtone maker and LogoManager for creating your own phone logos :p
Remember buying the 101 CD from hawally and telling everyone in the world you can find out their phone number 😛

Enough memories for one night. How about you share some of your memories between the 99-2003 era 😛 I’ll probably do a year by year memory lane sorta post.. any recommendations ? Im sure I’ve missed loaaads of things.. remind us in the comments!
I’ve been using a JVC Audio/Video Car receiver on my FJ cruiser for quite some time now, in the end I removed it and re-installed the factory head unit due to the poor quality of sound that the JVC produced.

The JVC Unit I Removed

The Factory FJammer
http://youtu.be/hEDJA6H_A8U
Now after a couple of months, i’m thinking of getting a new screen, but i’m not sure if they would produce as good quality sound as the original FJammer. This is due to the fact that the original setup in the FJ comes with a rear Base speaker that needs some power, with the JVC cranking up the volume would produce sound-loss due to the fact that it’s not powerful enough.
What do you think? To buy or not to buy? They sell it here for around 220 + 20 KD for the cable.. Still thinking.. Do you have any other recommendations?
