I’ve been almost dying every time I go to my parents house as they’ve adopted two kittens (which are now a year old). Every time I go I end up having to leave early, stay in a specific place in the house to avoid contact and if i’m really unlucky i’d end up in the hospital due to the fact that my trachea is completely blocked from the allergic raction.
Allergies from cats have been really troubling me, especially that the symptoms can be really annoying: coughing, sneezing, loss of voice, slowly I get trouble breething. Ok, there is a solution to take some allergy medication before I go, which sometime works and sometimes doesn’t, but is there a cure ?
Yesterday I went and had an allergy test to Identify what i’m allergic to.
Apparently, i’m allergic allergic to both cats and dogs as well as very allergic to a certain type of pollen. At the end of the test when I asked a doctor he said the only solution to cats and dogs is avoidance!!

I’m allergic to dogs and date trees. I live with dog in Kuwait so I’m exposed to both.
Luckily the date trees pollinate during a certain time of the year only and they’re not located inside my house. My dog on the other hand hovers all around me when I am home.
I’ve been taking Stallergenes now for a year and a half, it’s 4 drops of medication I have to put under my tongue every morning and leave it there for 2 minutes. Supposedly after a year and a half of use you no longer are allergic and after 3 years you’re permanently immune.
I got prescribed this medication by two different doctors, one in Lebanon and one here in Kuwait (International Clinic). The medication costs like 70KD and lasts around two months.

I always thought there was a shot to take for that kind of allergy! its weird that the solution would be just to avoid cats and dogs, it just doesnt make any sense to me

the doctor mensioned some sort of course of injections that I have to take over three years. Bes I wasn’t really happy with that choice :/ I heared there were pills too, someone I know said they took them, but I kinda wasn’t 100% sure about those, pills for me are easier to take and store than the droplets Mark just told us about .
I believe the pills you’re looking are called anti-histamines. They’re sold over the counter at pharmacies.

Anti-histamines only suppress your immune system and when you stop them you’ll end up being allergic again.
Where did you do this test? I think I’m allergic to some nuts and chocolate. Do I need to ask for specific test or is there a test will show everything? What’s the cost like?? Sorry for the
Bombardment of questions, it’s just I’ve been thinking about doing this for a long time so would love some advice. Also I noticed the raised bumps on your arm- I’m guessing that’s the reaction- ?

I actually did this test in the Allergy Section in a public hospital (forgot the name of the hospital sorry + needed wasta if you didn’t go their by being directed from a hospital) bes you can do them in international clinic too (check out mark’s post: http://248am.com/mark/kuwait/the-prick-test/) he did it in international clinic and they tested for 26 different things.
The bigger bumps were the things I was allergic too, the small bumps are the skins response to being pricked. Its not a painful test its like being stung only lighter, irritating a little if you are allergic to somethings. The pollen I didn’t know I was allergic to.
Well I’m suddenly Allergic to things including Cigarete Smoke, SO there are 2 ways, either Aries Pills for allergy / Zyrtec or get Injected with Allergy Injections, to over come them. this way you’ll get cured & won’t get annoyed from them 😛
For the most part, antihistamines are safe. Having said that, antihistamines can have side effects which, if the antihistamine is not properly administered, can be serious. The truth is, all medications have side effects. Some are mild, as in the case of an aspirin, unless you have stomach ulcers or aspirin sensitivity and others are more serious such as the side effects from chemotherapy, but for the most part, antihistamine side effects are fairly mild. The newest antihistamines are probably about the safest medications that there are. But there are differences between the various antihistamines and their side effects.;
