Its been a couple of days and i’m considering buying one of these fryers has any one tried the actifry? The only problem is that they advertise its perfect for making potato crisps but what else can i use it for ? ? I’m thinking of changing some of my diet, and if it works as advertised it should help me have more options for my meals. Another advantage is that i can make potato crisps easily for my son and don’t require any help + i can do them safely with him hanging around in the kitchen unlike the conventional frying pan method. The price tag is what’s keeping me from getting it really, the small model costs around 71 KWD, whereas the larger family model costs around 96 KWD, i’m not 100% sure about the prices but they are in those range.
Has anyone tried it and is it worth it ? Or Do you suggest other alternatives ?

Update: Turns out they have this community site for recipes : www.tfalactifry.com , hmmm, its already looking yummy.

Hii,, ana sharait the philips one which is called the air fryer, mawjood in xciteits for 80 kdand the best thingabout is is that it cooks evrythinguwant! Ivebeen using it to make fremch fries, chips, cooking the samboosa and kubas and its sooo goood u get to enjoy the same food but with no oil.

Eee i read about it too, online most recommendations were on the actifry due to the fact with some food you need a little bit of oil.. I’m confused. I think they need to do a showdown on these too hehe.. A couple of sites also recommended the philips one on the actifry as they say that you can use it with nearly everything and the rotating action of the actifry can damage some foods. Can you make hamburgers or chicken nuggets with the air fryer ?
We’ve had our actifry for 3 years now. But I recall it cost 60 something KD?
Anyways it can do potatoes all right. Maybe the round pop corn chicken. But that’s about it. It cannot make you Kubba or Samboosa or cheese sticks or anything else.
However there is a new philips that is black and is very new. We bought it last year and its much better. This one can literally do ANYtHING with the same frying effect of almost no oil. Even samboosa’s. I think its sold for 79 KD. I would recommend the philips over the Tefal actifry from personal experience.
